East Coast Bariatrics at Halifax Health Earns Re-Accreditation as Top Comprehensive Bariatric Center

DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – (October 28, 2019) – East Coast Bariatrics at Halifax Health has once again been granted full accreditation as a comprehensive bariatric center by the American College of Surgeons Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).

This accreditation demonstrates the commitment of East Coast Bariatrics at Halifax Health to deliver the highest quality of patient-centered care for bariatric surgery patients.  To earn accreditation, East Coast Bariatrics met the essential criteria that ensure its ability to support a safe bariatric surgical care program and measure up to the institutional performance requirements outlined by the MBSAQIP accreditation standards.

The MBSAQIP is a joint program of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.  The program accredits inpatient and outpatient bariatric surgery centers that have undergone an independent and rigorous peer evaluation in accordance with nationally recognized bariatric surgical standards.

Led by surgeons Joel Sebastien, M.D., FACS, director of bariatric surgery, and Lars Nelson, M.D., East Coast Bariatrics is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of professionals that includes physicians, nurses, dietitians, exercise physiologists and mental health professionals.  More than a surgical weight loss program, East Coast Bariatrics’ team of experts focus on providing comprehensive support throughout a patient’s weight-loss journey.

Surgical weight loss solutions performed by East Coast Bariatrics at Halifax Health include: Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery, Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy, Duodenal Switch, and ORBERA® Non-Surgical Weight Loss Balloon.  All procedures are done laparoscopically with minimum down time.

For those interested in learning more about bariatric surgery and if they are a candidate, East Coast Bariatrics offers free information sessions each Monday at 6:00 p.m. at Halifax Health Medical Center of Daytona Beach, 201 Building, Suite 210.  Information sessions are also available in Orange City.  To reserve a seat at a free information session, or for more information on East Coast Bariatrics at Halifax Health, call 386.238.3205.
