Halifax Health and Community Leaders Recognized ‘Race to Stop Suicide Day’ in Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach, FL — (February 12, 2025) – Halifax Health, in partnership with the City of Daytona Beach, local leaders, and mental health advocates, came together today to recognize Race to Stop Suicide Day, an event dedicated to raising awareness and encouraging action in the fight against suicide. The event took place at Halifax Health in the France Tower bringing together community members, mental health professionals, and advocates to emphasize the importance of suicide prevention and mental health support.

During the event, Daytona Beach City Council Member Stacy Cantu presented an official proclamation recognizing Race to Stop Suicide Day in Daytona Beach.

Halifax Health acknowledged its dedicated mental health professionals and crisis response teams, recognizing their passion, commitment, and expertise in supporting individuals during their darkest moments. These professionals work tirelessly to provide critical care, offering hope, healing, and guidance to those in need.

Key speakers included Daniel Dye, NASCAR Xfinity Series Driver, and Randy Dye, business leader and founders of Race to Stop Suicide. Both shared their personal dedication to suicide prevention, reflecting on six years of advocacy and urging continued dialogue and action. Daniel, who will be competing this Saturday and the entire season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, shared why this crusade as been his passion and how racing and mental health may seem unexpected partners, but actually the partnership opens the doors to critical conversations across the country.

“We must normalize mental health conversations in our schools, workplaces, and communities,” said Randy Dye. “Every step we take toward breaking the stigma can help save a life.”

The event concluded with a call to action, encouraging attendees to continue educating themselves, supporting loved ones, and advocating for improved mental health resources.
