The NASCAR Foundation and Halifax Health to Celebrate National Teddy Bear Day in Speediatrics Unit on September 9

The NASCAR Foundation is delivering 4,000 NASCAR-themed teddy bears to children in 110 hospitals across North America for the eighth annual “Speedy Bear Brigade.” This year’s efforts will bring the cumulative total of Speedy Bears delivered to more than 15,000 since the program’s inception in 2016, providing comfort to children during their hospital stays.

A special celebration of National Teddy Bear Day will take place in The NASCAR Foundation’s Speediatrics Unit at Halifax Health, the birthplace of Speedy Bear, which was custom-designed by The NASCAR Foundation’s late founder Betty Jane France. The Betty Jane France Center for Pediatrics was designed with the idea of caring for the whole family in mind. Brightly decorated with a NASCAR racing theme, Speediatrics creates a cheerful and reassuring environment for the children that are receiving care and for their families.

EVENT DETAILS          The NASCAR Foundation and representatives from Jeep Beach and Top Build will hold a special celebration of National Teddy Bear Day for patients, families and medical staff in the Speediatrics Pediatric Unit at Halifax Health.

As part of the Speedy Bear Brigade, patients will also receive a special delivery of a NASCAR-themed teddy bear, along with a “house” that can be decorated by the patients that also includes an activity book, crayons, Jenga-style wooden block game and playing cards to keep them occupied while in the hospital.
