Designations & Features
Halifax Health is an Acute Care Facility for Florida’s Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Program and operates the area’s only Trauma Center as well as the area’s only Pediatric Emergency care. With these services, in addition to a Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Chest Pain Center, Halifax Health offers the most comprehensive Emergency Medicine services in our community.
Technology
The ED at Halifax Health is equipped with the latest technology available, including:
- Florida’s first GE CT750 HD scanner, which delivers clearer images of the heart while using less radiation
- The first wireless digital x-ray system in the United States
- A private energy plant with generators able to support the entire hospital for five days
Helipad
A private, nonstop elevator connects the helipad (on the roof of the 10-story France Tower) to the trauma suites in the ED. This allows care to be delivered quickly, when seconds matter.

Trauma Center – Level II
The Trauma Center at Halifax Health Medical Center of Daytona Beach is equipped to provide comprehensive emergency medical services to patients suffering traumatic injuries, 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. The key to successful trauma patient care is our trauma surgeons.

OB Emergency Department
The OB Emergency Department at Halifax Health is part of our commitment to this community and to the safety of our moms and our babies. We are proud to be the area’s first and only OB Emergency Department and have partnered with the Ob Hospitalists Group (OBHG), the largest OB/GYN hospitalist provider.

Pediatric Emergency Department
Throughout the East Central Florida community, infants, children, adolescents and young adults seek emergency care each day. Appropriate access to pediatric emergency medical care is especially important for children because substantial morbidity may occur if care is delayed.
