At Halifax Health we recognize the importance of allowing children the opportunity to grieve after the death of a loved one. Our BeginAgain Children’s Grief Program is designed to meet the unique grief needs of children. The BeginAgain Children’s Grief Centers provide a safe and child-friendly environment. Modeled after the Dougy Center in Portland, this hospice-related program encourages grief expression in ways best suited for children and teenagers.
Programs include individual and family sessions, support groups for children and their caregivers; art, drama, music, and physical activity. Throughout the year we are proud to partner with many community organizations to host an art camp, equine therapy, and our Camp BeginAgain.
Children from age 4 -18 who have experienced the death of someone close to them are eligible to participate. Consent of a parent or legal guardian is required. Our counselors are Master’s level therapists and specially trained in children’s grief and there is a team of highly trained and dedicated volunteers.
Service Areas include East Volusia (386.425.3100). West Volusia (386.425.9889), Orange County (386.425.9885) and Osceola County (386.425.9886)
