Protect Yourself from MyChart Scams

Scammers can make messages and websites look convincing by using the MyChart name or logo. They may contact you by email, text, or phone and ask for your login or payment information, sometimes while offering a prize or free gift. Staying alert can make a big difference. When in doubt, pause and make sure the message is legitimate before taking action.

Your Account is Safe

A scam message alone cannot give someone access to your MyChart account. Keep your password and verification codes private, and don’t enter them on unfamiliar websites. If you think you may have shared your information, change your password and contact us at 386.425.4107.

How to Protect Yourself

  1. Check the sender and website. Look closely at email addresses and URLs for misspellings or anything unusual. Use the Halifax Health MyChart website or app any time you need to access your health information.

  2. When in doubt, ask. If a message seems suspicious, don’t click links or enter information. Contact our MyChart Support Desk directly at 386.425.4107.

  3. Protect your password and codes. Never share your MyChart password or verification codes by phone, text, or email.

  4. Keep your information private. Never change your contact information to an email address or phone number you don’t control.

  5. Be wary of “free” offers. MyChart and Halifax Health do not offer giveaways or prizes in exchange for personal or payment information.

  6. Never run computer commands. MyChart and Halifax Health will never ask you to use keyboard shortcuts or run commands to verify, fix, or unlock your account.
